Phillip EliasBSc(Optom), Member of Optometry Australia Phillip graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry degree in 1986. Upon graduation, Phillip practised for several years in private practice, where he gained a wealth of experience. In 1992, he established his own practice in Thomastown where he currently practises. He has an interests in all facets of optometry. His special interests include dealing with complex spectacle prescriptions, as well as all types of contact lens fittings. Phillip was raised in Thomastown and attended school locally. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, gardening and is an avid Hawthorn football club supporter. | |
Dr Leta EliasBBMed, OD (Therapeutically Endorsed), Member of Optometry Australia Leta graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Biomedicine degree in 2018. She completed further studies to obtain her Doctor of Optometry qualification in 2022. Based on her exceptional academic achievements, she was awarded the Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship. Immediately upon gaining her doctorate, she joined our practice and has since become an integral part of our team. She is therapeutically endorsed, which enables her to prescribe ocular medication. She has a keen interest in detecting, monitoring and treating eye diseases. She has a special interest in the therapeutic management of anterior eye diseases, including dry eye disease. When not at work, Leta has a passion for reading and playing the piano. | |
Anne EliasB.VisSci, MOptom (Therapeutically Endorsed), Member of Optometry Australia Anne began her journey as an optometrist by being admitted into Deakin University and was awarded the Deakin University Vice Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Scholarship based on her outstanding academic performance. She graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Vision Science degree and a Masters of Optometry degree with Distinction in 2022. After graduation, Anne joined our practice with interests in all aspects of optometry. She is therapeutically endorsed, which allows Anne to prescribe ocular medication to treat a variety of eye diseases. She has a strong interest in children’s vision, with particular emphasis on treating binocular vision disorders. She is also well-versed in the latest lens technologies. In her spare time, spending time with friends and family is something Anne loves to do. She especially enjoys cooking and baking. |
RosaRosa gained valuable experience in the healthcare sector for many years before joining the Phillip Elias Optometrists team in 2006. Having served with us for over 20 years, she has become an integral part of our practice. She enjoys getting to know our patients, and has become well-known and well-liked amongst the local community. | TaliaTalia initally joined our practice in 1993, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the optical field. She worked with us for ten years, and has recently joined our team again in 2023 after taking time to raise her family. Talia loves helping our patients, and we are fortunate to have her as a member of our pratice. |
Our PracticeEstablished by Phillip Elias in 1992, Phillip Elias Optometrists is an independent practice delivering professional, personalised eyecare solutions to the residents of Thomastown and the surrounding communities. Our practice is committed to delivering the highest quality eyecare with a focus on thoughtful and tailored patient care. His daughters Leta and Anne, both optometrists, have joined the practice to continue the tradition for a second generation. After more than 30 years, the practice was relocated to its existing position at the beginning of 2025. This modern renovation allowed for a state of the art practice, creating added space for the latest technological devices. The practice also has a large display area, allowing for a great range of fashionable spectacle frames. | |
